ALSO Participates in a Landscape Scan on People Who Cause Harm

ALSO was Honored to Participate in a Steering Committee on
Reaching People Who Cause Harm
ALSO was one of 31 organizations who were a part of a steering committee that contributed to the report, Reaching People Who Cause Harm: A Landscape Scan of Policies, Funding and Strategies to Prevent Intimate Partner Violence in Cook County. This report was led by the Michael Reese Health Trust with funding support from the VNA Foundation. They commissioned a team of researchers at Smith Child Health Catalyst at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to conduct the research and produce the report.
In 2024, 137 people in Illinois died from domestic violence incidents. This was an increase of 14% from 2023 and an increase of 140% from 2022. The goal of this report is to provide guidance on key priorities to inform and help initiate the real work of design and implementation of serving survivors and those who cause harm. Research shows that effective programs for people who cause harm reduce violence, but services are sadly under-resourced.
We invite you to read the full report and learn why prevention violence among people who cause harm is survivor-centered. We thank the Michael Reese Health Trust and the researchers at Lurie Children’s Hospital for including us in this groundbreaking report to support survivors and their families.
