ALSO’s Alexia Joins RIFL Act Panel

Last night, ALSO’s very own Alexia Roman joined community leaders, legislators, and violence prevention advocates as a featured panelist at the Reimagining Public Safety Town Hall in Austin, an event organized by the RIFL Coalition. The gathering brought together voices from across Chicago who are committed to creating safer communities and advocating for transformative public safety strategies.

As part of the panel, Alexia spoke passionately in support of the RIFL Act, legislation designed to hold firearm manufacturers accountable for the public costs of gun violence. Her contributions highlighted frontline experiences, community needs, and the urgency behind pushing meaningful policy reforms in Springfield.

The Town Hall served as a powerful reminder that when communities unite, survivors, advocates, legislators, providers, and residents, momentum becomes movement. Alexia’s leadership and insight helped ensure that ALSO’s vision for safety, justice, and equity remained at the forefront of the conversation.

We are proud to have Alexia representing ALSO in this critical statewide effort.

Her voice matters. Her advocacy matters. And last night, it contributed to building the energy we need to move the RIFL Act forward in January.
