ALSO was founded in 1998 to coordinate services for youth and families in Logan Square/Humboldt Park. ALSO has since expanded its reach and scope, both in Chicago and nationally, serving as a recognized leader in the field of anti-violence.

ALSO is a Chicago-rooted anti-violence organization with a footprint that spans all 56 U.S. states and territories. Our headquarters is located at 2519 W North Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL.

ALSO’s direct service programs offer tailored solutions to 9 of Chicago’s northwest side neighborhoods, including: Albany Park, Avondale, Belmont Cragin, Hermosa, Humboldt Park, Irving Park, Logan Square, Portage Park, and West Town. Through an innovative and community-centric approach, these direct services, including street violence intervention, re-entry services and youth employment, work to reduce street and intimate-partner violence.

Technical assistance refers to custom support to individuals or organizations through sharing resources, offering training and peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and serving as a thought-partner in issue-spotting and troubleshooting related to program development and delivery. Technical assistance can be an excellent resource for strengthening programs by recognizing strengths and areas of improvement.

ALSO provides technical assistance in a variety of ways to all 56 US states and territories. ALSO has been a Technical Assistance and Training Provider for the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women since 2007. ALSO offers training and technical assistance to our local community as well.
