We believe both government and communities are responsible for solving issues of violence. And, in order to respond to these issues effectively, these systems must be well- informed and highly coordinated.
ALSO serves as the coordinator, convener and information hub for government agencies and service providers to create optimal results in communities. Through training, consultation and technical assistance, ALSO builds the capacities of agencies to address domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, children’s exposure to violence and violence against women.
ALSO’s training and consultation programs include the STAAR project, Locally Implementing National Knowledge (LINK) travel assistance and Your Life is My Life Bystander Intervention, in addition to local and national conferences facilitating information sharing and providing networking opportunities. In conjunction with these programs, ALSO provides training on People in Risk and Children’s Exposure to Violence, important concepts providing the basis for this work.
