The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is pleased to invite you to the Legal Assistance for Victims Grantee Conference. The conference will be held on October 24-25, 2016 in the District of Columbia at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. 

The LAV Grantee Conference will bring together attorneys, advocates and legal experts that are working in the field of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.  Presenters will include national experts on the issues LAV grantees are facing, including sexual assault, immigration, victim trauma, and human trafficking. Special guest Carrie Bettinger-Lopez, White House Advisor on Violence Against Women, has been invited as a Keynote Speaker.

Conference Goals & Objectives

The LAV Grantee Conference will focus on increasing knowledge and enhancing skills around providing legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.  At the end of this conference, the participants will be able to:  

• Improve collaboration and dialogue among the civil/criminal justice system and community professionals through a multidisciplinary approach;
• Strengthen effective holistic legal representation and advocacy for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking; and
• Identify other federally funded organizations that provide legal services and resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking and increase dialogue among them in order to develop creative solutions for victims.

OVW Grant Programs and Registration Process:

Please note, there is no limit to the number of people each OVW project can send to the conference.

STOP Grantees need to seek approval from your state STOP Administrator. No GAN needs to be submitted.
