Youth Across the Nation Speak Out on Healthy Relationships This Valentine’s Day
Chicago, IL, February 13 - February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month and, beginning on Wednesday, February 14th Valentine’s Day, a team of experts--Men Can Stop Rape, Break the Cycle, and the Alliance of Local Service Organizations—will encourage communities across the country to convene youth to discuss their definitions of and reflections on healthy relationships.
The team of experts, referred to as the Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men Program Technical Assistance Team (TA Team), will release a short film that depicts an honest and real conversation among a diverse group of youth in Washington, D.C. Youth violence prevention educators can then use this short film as a model to organize and facilitate youth conversations in communities all across the United States. In addition, accompanying the film is a brief facilitation guide that includes facts about dating violence and guiding questions along with instructions for sharing themes and trends from the conversations with the TA Team.

About the Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men Program Technical Assistance Team
The mission of the TA Team is to build the capacity of communities to create a world without violence for children and young people. Funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), the TA Team provides training and technical assistance to the OVW Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men Program grantees across the country that prevent and respond to children, youth, and non-abusing caregivers impacted by gender-based violence and engage men and boys as allies in the prevention of violence against women and girls. Men Can Stop Rape’s mission is to mobilize men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. Break the Cycle’s mission is to inspire and support young people to build healthy relationships and create a culture without abuse. The Alliance of Local Service Organization’s (ALSO’s) mission is to work in partnership with those living in risk of violence to promote safer streets and homes.
