Join Our Community in Uniting against Sexual Assault
On the eve of 2012, a young woman was beaten and raped in Logan Square. The Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO) is partnering with Rape Victim Advocates (RVA) to bring together the community - elected officials, local service providers and businesses, along with residents - to speak out against Sexual Assault.
On Monday, January 9, 2012 @ 5:30 pm we will gather outside of the Congress Theatre (2135 North Milwaukee Avenue). Together we will talk about ending sexual assault, share information and resources with each other, bring ideas to community about increasing safety, support our neighbors and come together as a community during a very difficult time. During the event we will walk to the location where the young woman was found (less than two blocks away).
ALSO will be highlighting the Your Life is My Life: Ending Violence Starts With Me Campaign to engage residents in being active participants in stopping violence. RVA will share information about the realities of sexual assault, provide available resources for victims and their loved ones and engage men in pledging to end sexual assault and other forms of violence against women.
We hope others will join us and bring information and resources they have. Click here to view and share a flier. For more information about the event or the organizations involved, call ALSO at (773) 235-5705 or call RVA at (312) 443-9603.
