2019 Underserved Summer Institute
2019 Underserved Summer Institute
July 16th - July 18th, 2019
Atlanta, Georgia
This three day Institute for Underserved Grantees will provide participants with in-depth and hands-on skills building and knowledge sharing based on Underserved TA foundations (intersectionality, trust, building, engaging communities, peer to peer learning and trauma informed practices) within the grant core areas: services, education and training. This institute will host the Office of Violence Against Women’s 2016, 2017, and 2018 Underserved Grantees and their project partners.
This year’s Institute is a complement to the October 2018 Institute held in Chicago, IL and will draw on the lessons from this training and help grantees conceptualize their growth process as they continue reaching the goals and objectives of their Underserved project.
This in-person training is designed to support the cross pollination of ideas between cohorts and strengthen the grantee’s projects through large and small group discussions on various issue topics including storytelling, discussing and talking about sexual violence, developing effective internal & external training materials, service provision and skill building, to inform program development for underserved communities impacted by sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. Throughout the training, grantees will have several opportunities to think about how the information shared can contribute to further implementation of their programming.

Hotel rooms will be offered at the government rate of $149 per night. All attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations via the link above. Upon making your reservation, please note that if participants use a debit card as their method of payment, an authorization will be placed on their bank account for the total amount of the room plus $50.00 for incidentals per day. The authorization will show as pending for 5-7 business days, though the final balance charged may be less.
The deadline to book hotel rooms is Monday, June 17th COB so please make reservations as soon as possible. It is important that you do not miss this deadline, as you will not be guaranteed the government rate ($149) after this date and rooms may not be available.

After 72 hours, a cancellation will result in a charge of one night’s room and tax and will be charged to the individual credit card. It is the responsibility of each participant to contact the hotel directly regarding cancellation. You must also notify the Underserved TA Team of any unanticipated cancellations.
Recommended attire for the meeting is business casual. If you have any questions about attire, please reach out to us.
