2019 Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men New Grantee Orientation

The three day Grantee Orientation begins Monday, November 18th at 9:00 am and concludes on Wednesday, November 20th at 3:00pm. Please plan on being in attendance for the entirety of the Orientation. If you must leave early, you will need to receive advance approval from your OVW grants Program Manager, Kellie Greene.

This three day workshop for select grantees and newly granted 2019 Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men Grantees will provide participants with a mix of programmatic and administrative content pertinent to the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). Through this orientation program, grantees will receive information regarding OVW’s mission, grant management and reporting requirements, and an overview of the Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men (CYEM) Program to assist with effective grant implementation. Grantees also receive an introduction to OVW grant managers and technical assistance providers, including the availability of services and resources. You are encouraged to raise as many questions as needed to assist you in successfully implementing your project goals and objectives.

Participants will be covering their cost for attendance at the 2019 Consolidated Youth and Engaging Men Grantee Orientation. Hotel rooms will be offered at the government rate of $157 per night. All attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations via the link above. Upon making your reservation, please note that if participants use a debit card as their method of payment, an authorization will be placed on their bank account for the total amount of the room plus $50.00 for incidentals per day. The authorization will show as pending for 5-7 business days, though, the final balance charged may be less. The deadline to book hotel rooms is Thursday, November 7, 2019 COB so please make reservations as soon as possible. It is important that you do not miss this deadline, as you will not be guaranteed the government rate ($157) after this date and rooms may not be available.

Cancellation will be accepted seventy two (72) hours prior to arrival. After 72 hours, a cancellation will result in a charge of one night’s room and tax will be charged to the individual credit card. It is the responsibility of each participant to contact the hotel directly regarding cancellation. You must also notify the CYEM TA Team of any unanticipated cancellations.

Check-in begins at 3:00 pm. and check-out is at 12:00 pm. Every attempt will be made to accommodate those guests arriving prior to 3:00 P.M. If you are interested in a later check-out time, please speak with the hotel. If the hotel is unable to accommodate an early check-in or late check out time, baggage storage is available.

Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Information: This airport is a 30 minute car ride to the Loews New Orleans Hotel.

Ground Transportation Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is a 25 minute drive to the Loews New Orleans Hotel. Please see the information below pertaining to your travel needs.

Taxis: Taxicab booths are located on the first level of the Terminal outside of Baggage Claim Belts 1 and 14. Passengers must wait in line at one of these booths for taxi service. Taxi rides cost $36.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) or French Quarter (west of Elysian Fields) for up to two (2) passengers. For three (3) or more passengers, the fare will be $15.00 per passenger. Taxis are required to accept credit card payments.

Airport Shuttle: Shuttle service is available from the airport to hotels and various other locations in New orleans for $24.00 (per person, one-way) or $44.00 (per person, round trip). These fares include three (3) bags per person. Additional baggage may be subject to additional fees. Passengers can purchase tickets at the Airport at Airport Shuttle ticket booths located on the first level throughout the Baggage Claim area.

LYFT / UBER: Please download the apps as needed. Uber and Lyft offer transportation services from the Airport. Passengers can meet their app-based ride service outside of the Ground Transportation Center located on the first floor of the Short-Term Parking Garage by crossing the pedestrian crosswalk located outside of Baggage Claim 6.

Public Transit: Public mass transportation from the airport to downtown New Orleans is now easier than ever. Today, the Jefferson Transit Authority (JET) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) provide nine (9) daily departures to downtown New Orleans. Both utilize the bus stop located on the outer lanes of the second floor, outside Concourse C Lobby Information Booth.

The Airport-Downtown Express (E2) bus operated by JET is $2.00. The fare boxes will accept $1, $5, $10, $20 dollar bills and all U.S. coins. The Airport-Downtown Express (E2) provides service form the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, down Airline Drive into New Orleans, which takes approximately fifty (50) minutes. The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) provides the Airport Express (202) Bus with service to and from the Airport into New Orleans. Pick up locations for the Airport Express (202) Bus in New Orleans can be found at Elk Place at Cleveland and the Union Passenger terminal Bus Bay 2 with transport to the Departures Level at the Airport Terminal and select trips to the new terminal construction site.
