Judicial Trainings in Puerto Rico
With the support of the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women, and in collaboration with the Office of the Women's Advocate and the Judicial Branch of Puerto Rico, ALSO offered two one-day judicial trainings on January 21-22, 2016 at the Judicial Academy in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The judicial trainings addressed intimate partner sexual violence and stalking and the use of technology with the purpose of enhancing knowledge and skills in the handling of these cases in court. The trainings, which were tailored to local needs both in terms of language access and content, featured presentations by a team of national and local experts comprised of (retired) Judge Jerry Bowles (Kentucky), Judge Rosalinda Ruiz (Puerto Rico), Judge Ricardo Marrero (Puerto Rico), Judge Aleida Varona (Puerto Rico), and University of Puerto Rico Law School Dean Vivian Neptune (Puerto Rico).
