Prior to 2013, ALSO served grantees of the Children Exposed to Violence Grant Program. Children- and youth-serving grant programs of the Office on Violence Against Women were consolidated via legislative action via the 2013 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.
During this project, Grantees from around the country provided direct counseling, advocacy and mentoring for children to mitigate the effects of their exposure to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to reduce the risk of future victimization or perpetration of these crimes. Grantees also provided support to the non-abusing parent or child’s caretaker, and coordinated with local service providers to strengthen and increase access to services for both kids and adults.
Children Exposed to Violence Technical Assistance Project (CEV TA) supported their efforts by providing information on promising practices, tailored technical assistance, webinars and conferences, and by brokering assistance from other national experts.
