ALSO Does Career Day!

ALSO staff Stephanie Hausen (on left) and Pulaski teacher Valerie Williams (on right) standing in front of dry erase board in a classroom

ALSO staff recently participated in Career Day at the Pulaski International School of Chicago. ALSO would like to thank Pulaski teacher, Valerie Williams, for the invitation to present to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. ALSO staff talked about our violence prevention work in Humboldt Park, as well as our work on a national level. Several of the students live in our service area and asked some great questions.

  1. Do you ever judge people who come into your office by the way they look?
  2. What does a normal day-to-day look like for staff?
  3. Have you ever lost someone to street or gun violence?
  4. What do you do when you travel to different places?
  5. How can someone leave a “gang”?
  6. What age groups do you work with?

What do you think about the questions these students asked? Contact ALSO to join the conversation!
